Great set of rustic characters: mortise pockets(where this beam met with others within the barn), cracks, large rusty nails, mortise pins(large wooden nails that secure the mortise within the mortise pocket), knots, smooth face sides, rough face sides and nice mantel ends; and the patina is nothing but gorgeous. Also, depth and thickness dimensions are equal; meaning you get eight hanging choices; which is not a bad problem to have. Crafted, then left Mother-nature-made natural; all ready to hang as-is. Comes from an early 1900's milking barn that was located near Glencoe, Minnesota. The mantel in the photos is the exact one you will receive and it's ready to ship.
