The topside is blondish and smooth, planed flat for your photos, keepsakes and decor. Beautiful patina, knots, nail holes, nice mantel ends, attractive wood grain patterns, some crosscut saw markings and even some wood mortise pin spikes. Crafted, then left Mother-nature-made natural, but all ready to hang. This authentic old growth Doug fir mantel is all ready to ship; and the one in the photos is the one you will receive.
