Super grain patterns, nice mantel ends(one end with a nice crack that runs from one end to the other - we have tightly secured it), those sweet Douglas fir knots, nail holes, two mortise pockets(where this beam met others within the barn), nails, cracks and a wonderful old growth patina. It will give you no less than eight hanging choices, not a bad problem to have. Crafted, then left natural - all ready to hang as-is. It comes from an early 1900's milking barn that had been located near Glencoe, Minnesota. This is no newly milled mantel made to look old and weathered, and not one made of boards; this one is authentic and will be around for many generations. Ready to ship.
